Feathers opened its doors in March 1998 and was purpose built as a Boutique Hotel. After two decades of consistent service excellence the team took the time on 19 March to celebrate and reflect back on their journey. They lit a candle for each of the 21 years while sharing the highlights and stories. Aneen Saayman, General Manager for the past 21 years, also handed over her responsibilities and title to her successor, Mariaan Laubscher, a Feathers gem 12 years in the making and excited to take on the new role.

“Our staff is our greatest asset. We believe in creating an engaged culture. Each and every one of our 17 staff members’ growth and well-being are important to us. I knew that the team had matured to a brand new level when we brainstormed our new vision and our previous slogan ‘our service builds a legacy’ was replaced with ‘we make travel light’. We have taken on the responsibility to share our knowledge and empower the hospitality industry in the decades to come.” Said owners, Dr Danie Reitmann and his wife Sonya.
“A special feature that is kept on the front desk counter is our miracle jar. A glass jar filled with white stones. All miraculous event are documented and for each a white stone is added. This always serves as a source of encouragement and excitement for the team.” Explains Aneen.
